Why Do Americans Use CBD to Treat Anxiety and Chronic Pain?
It seems that the popularity of medical marijuana is increasing, but many people still have no idea about CBD and THC. The two primary components of cannabis are THC and CBD, which are found in the marijuana plant. When these two substances combine they create CBD, which is believed to be the true active ingredient in cannabis. But does this mean that all CBD products are harmful? Or is CBD the “safe” and “non-toxic” type of medication as people often claim?
The research was conducted
by a team of scientists from the University of California, Davis. The survey consisted of 389 current or former-CBD users that answered an online questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent via email to CBD consumers through online social networks and survey databases. The participants were asked multiple questions regarding the therapeutic benefits of CBD. It’s important to note that the majority of participants (nearly eighty percent) said that they have never experienced any side effects from consuming CBD products.
The research also found that a large majority of participants
(nearly eighty percent) are not aware that CBD is not the same thing as THC. People often think that CBD and THC are the same when in actuality, they are not. Most often, CBD is derived from hemp, whereas THC is derived from marijuana. In addition, it has been shown that CBD can be more effective than THC at suppressing the high produced by marijuana. Because of this, many believe that CBD is the “gold standard” when it comes to therapeutic uses for those suffering from chronic debilitating medical conditions.
Even though CBD is a natural substance derived from plants
many have opposed the legalization of CBD, saying that it is “not a drug” because it doesn’t produce a physical dependency on the cannabis user. On the flip side, advocates of cannabis say that they are in complete control of the dosage and frequency of consumption and that it has never been proven that CBD is not addictive or harmful. Many medical professionals agree that CBD is a much better choice than getting your marijuana from the black market. Many argue that even legalized cannabis has much higher CBD concentrations than the amount found in CBD products. Some also argue that there is no way to measure the potency of CBD since the compound cannot be detected with a naked eye.
There are other reasons why Americans use CBD
to treat their medical ailments, including anxiety and chronic pain. A clinical study conducted in Canada was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. This study compared the effects of CBD with those of pharmaceutical medications such as OxyContin. While the researchers found that patients taking CBD had similar results to those taking OxyContin, the comparison was indirect because the patients taking CBD were diagnosed with a different medical condition than those on OxyContin. The researchers defined medical conditions as having “a range of negative symptoms.” Therefore, CBD may be used for a variety of conditions that would not be covered by a prescription drug.
One of the main reasons why people choose to use CBD products
instead of marijuana is that CBD does not cause any harmful side effects. Many studies have shown that CBD is much safer than marijuana. However, if you suffer from a condition that requires the use of a prescription drug, then you should consider trying out some CBD products. No one needs to feel stressed out and suffer from debilitating side effects anymore!
